Ceramic Coating is a chemical polymer solution that is applied to various materials and surfaces of a vehicle to protect it from external damage. Applied either by hand or as a spray, a ceramic coating blends with the clearcoat of your car creating an additional hydrophobic layer of protection. Ceramic coating does not provide the same protection that paint protection film does. Rather a ceramic coating acts more like an extremely durable and protective paint sealant or wax. The purpose of a ceramic coating is to prevent dirt, road grime, acid rain, bird poop, pollen, and stain marks from contaminating and eating away at your vehicle's clear coat.
Hydrophobic Properties
The water that your vehicle encounters every day can be extremely harmful to the vehicle's clear coat. Acid rain and sprinkler water, for example, are full of minerals and other contaminants that can cause permanent damage to your vehicle. Ceramic coatings provide a super-hydrophobic layer to your vehicle's paint which fully protects your car from the contaminants commonly found in water. A ceramic coating will form a chemical bond with your car's paint and provide a semi-permanent layer of protection, meaning the water never directly touches or etches the paint. When water encounters a ceramic-coated surface it will immediately bead and sheet off of the vehicle.
Mirror-Like Paint
There is nothing more eye-catching than glossy, showroom-style paint. A properly bonded ceramic coating provides unbeatable gloss and depth to your vehicle's paint. Paired with a 1 or 2-step paint correction, a ceramic coat will not only ensure that your car looks as good as possible, but that your paint will be protected and preserved for years to come.
Protection from Harmful UV Rays
Much like your own skin, your vehicle's clear coat needs to be protected from the sun's ultraviolet rays to ensure that it does not fade or become damaged. This is especially important for cars that spend the majority of their lives outside. Ceramic coating your vehicle will save you from faded and sunbleached paint and is a much more economical option than repainting panels with faded clear coat.
Protection From Chemical, Mineral, and Other Stains
Ceramic coatings are designed to weather the wear and tear of daily use so that your vehicle doesn't have to. Whether it be hard water filled with minerals from sprinklers and car washes, or scuffs of blue and black on your seats from your favorite jeans, a ceramic coating will protect and preserve your vehicle inside and out.
In short- Yes!
While not all ceramic coatings are intended to be used in the same way, the Grumpy Turtle Auto Care team has specifically selected a ceramic coating that is safe for all of the materials on the exterior of your car including paint, glass, plastic, and rubber.
When providing interior ceramic coating services, the Grumpy Turtle Auto Care team uses specialty ceramic coatings for each kind of material on the interior of your vehicle to ensure optimal ceramic protection.
Exterior
The longevity of an exterior ceramic coating is dependent on many factors. For instance how often the vehicle is washed, how often the car sits in the sun, the frequency of adverse weather, and additional topper coatings can all affect the life expectancy of your ceramic coating just to name a few. Grumpy Turtle Auto Care promises a minimum of 2 years of protection, gloss, and hydrophobic paint from all Exterior Ceramic Coatings that we install. If the ceramic coating is properly and frequently maintained, the ceramic coating can provide up to 5 years of protection.
Interior
Just like an exterior ceramic coating, all interior ceramic coatings vary based on many different factors. How often the vehicle is cleaned, used, and how often the vehicle sits outside are just a few examples of factors that play into the lifetime of a ceramic coating. Due to these factors, all Grumpy Turtle Auto Care Interior Ceramic Coatings have an average expected longevity of 10-12 months.
The best thing that you can do to ensure that your ceramic coatings last as long as possible to is maintain it frequently and properly.
Grumpy Turtle Auto Care provides a convenient maintenance program that is specially designed to ensure you get the most out of your ceramic coating. Our maintenance program provides convenient mobile detailing services straight to your door once a month or once every two weeks.
